Abled Acres Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 May 2025

Abled Acres LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Texas-based company that supports people with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and other physical disabilities through our websites, podcasts, online community events, on-farm programs, and related services (“Services”). This policy explains in plain language how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect personal information that helps us provide services, respond to you, and improve our outreach.

This may include:

  • Contact details – your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
  • Login/account info – username and encrypted password if you create an account.
  • Demographic or health details – information like your injury level, time zone, pronouns, or accessibility needs (only if you choose to share it).
  • Submissions – content you provide such as questions, stories, photos, or media uploads for CripCast or other programs.
  • Website usage data – like IP address, browser type, and pages you visit, collected through cookies.
  • Payment data – donation or purchase amounts, billing details, and partial card info, processed securely by Stripe or PayPal (we do not store full credit card numbers).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  1. Provide and manage our Services.
  2. Communicate with you – such as through emails, newsletters, or event reminders.
  3. Match mentors and mentees within our peer-support program.
  4. Publish submitted content when you give explicit permission.
  5. Improve website performance and accessibility.
  6. Comply with tax and legal obligations.

In places like the EU or UK, we rely on legal bases such as consent, performance of a contract, and legitimate interests. In California, this usage qualifies under CPRA as “business purposes.”

3. When We Share Information

We do not sell your personal data.

We only share it with:

  • Service providers – companies that help us run our website (Bluehost), process payments (Stripe, PayPal), send emails (Mailchimp, SendGrid), or run virtual events (Zoom).
  • Partners – trusted collaborators who help deliver our programs, under confidentiality agreements.
  • With your permission – when you allow us to feature your story, media, or question.
  • Legal or safety reasons – if required by law or to protect someone’s safety.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tools to remember preferences and understand how people use our site. You can adjust your browser settings to control cookies. Blocking cookies may affect how the site functions.

We also use Google Analytics to gather anonymous statistics about website use.

  • Payment records – at least 7 years for tax purposes.
  • Analytics data – typically deleted or anonymized after 26 months.
  • Published content – may remain online indefinitely unless removal is requested and approved.
